Bedford Park

A North Toronto neighbourhood geared toward families with young children with its lush parks, quiet tree-lined streets, and home to some great schools.

Situated in north Toronto, Bedford Park is a neighborhood that boasts a laid back environment, perfect for young professionals, growing families, and retirees alike. The neighborhood is bisected by Yonge Street, and is located northwest of Lawrence Park.

Bedford Park’s quiet tree-lined streets, beautiful parks, top-quality schools, and close proximity to both Lawrence subway station and Highway 401 make it a very desirable place to call home. Once a small community centred on Yonge Street, the neighborhood is now a vibrant, self-contained neighborhood providing a high quality of life for its residents.

History

In its early days, Bedford Park was once a hamlet that was frequently used by farmers as a stopover when making their way to the city’s market. It is said to be named after the Bedford Park Hotel, which was established in the 1870s at the corner of Yonge Street and Fairlawn Avenue.

In 1909, the prestigious Rosedale Golf Club was relocated northeast of Bedford Park, creating a significant impact on the neighborhood’s development. The golf clubs relocation caused property values in the area to soar.
