Casa Loma

Casa Loma is graced with the spectacular silhouette of the medieval castle, Casa Loma overlooking the area from the hilltop.

This picturesque residential community is characterized by charming storybook homes, stately 200-year-old trees, and relaxing views of enchanting parkland and ravines. Perched on the brow of Avenue Road Hill, it is one of Toronto’s most coveted neighbourhoods – a serene oasis with a network of wood paths, quiet picnic spots, lush greenery, and an incredible selection of homes designed to provide an unparalleled quality of life.

History

The Casa Loma neighbourhood has been a desirable location even in the early 1900s. In 1911, industrialist Henry Mill Pellatt constructed a unique medieval-style castle along the St. Clair escarpment, which he named “Casa Loma.”

It was one of the largest and most impressive homes in Toronto, serving as a design inspiration for other homes within the neighbourhood. Today, the home still remains one of the neighbourhood’s most famous landmarks, as well as Toronto’s most popular tourist attractions.

Casa Loma, Toronto real estate options and property types

Casa Loma’s scenic surroundings made it an ideal location for the construction of numerous mansions along Spadina, which were mostly built between 1890 and 1920. Homes for sale in Casa Loma are available in a wide array of gorgeous architectural styles, which include Edwardian, Georgian, and English Cottage. In addition to its impressive variety of single-family homes, there are also more recent high-rise luxury condos along Avenue Road and lovely townhouses on Spadina.

For those searching for homes that feature panoramic views, many properties on the south side of Lyndhurst Court boast breathtaking views of Lake Ontario and Toronto’s glittering skyline. Many homes in the area are also backed onto the Nordheimer Ravine, which is covered with soaring maple trees and mature oaks.

Many homes in Casa Loma offer a seamless blend of privacy, style, and relaxation, with manicured landscaping, light-filled interiors, beautifully designed living spaces, and other impressive features.

There are many quiet picnic areas along the network of footpaths, making it an ideal location for families looking forward to spending time outdoors.

    • Casa Loma residents get easy access to the streetcar service on St. Clair Avenue West and the regular bus service on Bathurst Street. Most homes are also within walking distance to the St. Clair West subway station.

    • Everyday household needs can be purchased in the many shops located in the Bathurst and St. Clair shopping district. Exclusive boutiques, specialty stores, gourmet food shops and a variety of professional services are located along Spadina Road, just north of St. Clair.
