Lawrence Park

Lawrence Park is an exclusive uptown neighbourhoodwhere residents enjoy the peaceful setting and tranquility of the Blythwood Ravine and Sherwood Park.

Lawrence Park is one of Toronto’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, joining other prestigious neighbourhoods such as The Bridle Path, Rosedale, and Forest Hill. It was one of the city’s first planned garden suburbs, and is centred on Mount Pleasant Road.

Perched in a picturesque setting with rolling hills, lush scenery, and winding tree-lined roads, Lawrence Park offers a high quality of life for residents, with its close proximity to excellent schools, shops and restaurants, transit options, and recreational venues.

History

The neighbourhood of Lawrence Park was established back in 1907, and was a development from the Dovercourt Land Building and Saving Company. The company purchased the northern parcel of a park owned by John Lawrence, which is how the neighbourhood got its name.

From the start, Lawrence Park was marketed as a community for affluent residents. Its advertisements painted it as an “aristocratic neighbourhood 400 feet above Lake Ontario and far from the lake winds of winter.” While the construction of many new houses was interrupted temporarily by two world wars, the neighbourhood still continued to flourish, and was already well-established by the 1950s.

While many original homes have been torn down to make way for larger, more modern mansions, the neighbourhood still manages to retain its unique old-world charm. This is the perfect neighbourhood for buyers looking for a seamless blend of old and new.
