Rosedale

Rosedale is a neighbourhood surrounded by beautiful ravines and parkland, while it is just a few minutes from downtown core.

This haven is a neighbourhood located north of downtown Toronto, bounded by the CPR railway tracks to the north, Bayview Avenue to the east, Rosedale Valley Road and Aylmer Avenue to the south, and Yonge Street to the west.

One of the oldest neighbourhoods in Toronto, Rosedale has held the distinction of being the most sought-after address in the city. It is considered one of the most affluent communities in Canada, and was named the best place to live in the city by Toronto Life.

Rosedale is located within the limits of Toronto’s Rosedale-Moore Park neighbourhood. It is divided into two sections (north and south) by the Park Drive Ravine.

History

The neighbourhood of Rosedale was first settled by the Jarvis family in 1826, after Sheriff William Jarvis inherited his father’s property in the area two years prior. It was given the name of “Rosedale” by Mary Jarvis, after the abundance of wild roses that grew in the surrounding hillsides of their family’s estate.

Residential development in the area began after the Jarvis Family sold their property in 1864.
